Update on the OFAC SDN list and sanctions against Venezuelan and Greek ships
Following the US efforts to cut down all commercial activities involving the Venezuelan an Cuban countries, the OFAC uptated it´s SDN list to sanction Greek tankers and owners which were delivering shipments of oil to Cuba. In addition, most of PDVSA´s fleet was place under sanctions.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury, through the OFAC has blacklisted two shipping firms and dozens of vessels, including one Greek tanker, in connection with U.S. sanctions on Venezuela. The two companies are Ballito Bay Shipping and “ProPer In Management Inc.” of Athens.
The tanker was identified as the Despina Andrianna, IMO 9182667, a 70,000 dwt crude tanker belonging to Ballito Bay Shipping and operated by ProPer In Management. According to Treasury, she is under employment in carrying oil from Venezuela to Cuba in violation of American sanctions against Venezuela.
Treasury’s regulations generally prohibit all business transactions between American entities and sanctioned businesses or individuals – including bank transactions that occur within the United States, it´s still uncertain if sanctions mayu affect non-US persons as EO 13804 does not make any difference at the time of determine that any activity, which provides assistance to the Venezuelan government is now under prohibition.
The other vessels on Treasury’s new list are link to PDVSA. The list includes three Venezuelan drilling vessels and dozens of Venezuelan tugs. Herebelow we include a link from the OFAC website showing the specific entities and ships which are under sanctions:
