Government declares a 30 days energy rationing
Upon the major blackouts that has affected the entire country starting on March 7th, the government has declared a 30 days period of energy rationing aiming to restore the electrical system back to normality.
Following the massive blackout that affected the entire Venezuelan territory since March 7th, which other major blackouts occurring the weeks after that, president Nicolas Maduro decided to implement an energy rationing which will initially last 30 days.
Under these circumstances, commercial activities (except few) now have a reduced schedule until 14:00 hrs in the afternoon and most other activities will be suspended. It´s expected reduce on the blackouts based on the efficiency on the rationing although several cities and locations remains with long lasting power shortcuts.
Ports and terminals will try to continue their operations as usual as possible although all activities may be suspended should any major blackout happens again.
The second major issue this is causing is the relative to fresh water supply, most cities including the capital doesn’t have enough supply of fresh water as constant power is required to maintain the normality of the service. This is mainly affecting the population and medical services including clinics since there´s no enough water available to maintain the minimum standards.
Up to today, the government is working hard on reestablishing the basic services but the declaration made by the president allows all parties to understand that this issue will continue for a few more weeks for which caution and special planning is advice.
